The statistics on Coronavirus are frightening!

 

More than 341,000 people in the U.S. have died since February.

More than 19,750,000 are infected.

The Trump administration has badly mishandled this pandemic.   

In Bennington 

    485 cases      3 deaths

The State of Vermont is doing relatively well in terms of cases and deaths as we are a rural state but this may prove problematic if there are difficulties when we try to get vaccinated against this disease.

The plan is to vaccinate health workers and essential personnel, then the elderly in congregate homes and next 70 year olds and up....

PANDEMIC CORONA VIRUS AS 2021 APPROACHES

 

All the western countries in the world are doing a better job of handling the corona virus.  Under the Donald J Trump administration our government has done everything it could to mis-handle and worsen our country's responses to this epidemic.  

Joe Biden & Kamala Harris have won the 2020 election.

The republican congress under the leadership of Mitch McConnell and co-horts like Lindsey Graham have brought us to this disaster legislating big tax breaks for corporations while the rest of us sicken and die, without aid.  They keep talking about a 'stimulus' bill to give each american $1000, no make that, $600 (maybe they can whittle it down a little more...) dollars to keep from starving....

who knows what they will do?

 It's impossible to really say when this pandemic will end.  Scientists are watching and trying to describe effects on different age groups as they no longer think this is a disease of the elderly.

 

 

Life Upside Down

It's bad and the press is telling us that it is about to get worse. 
It appears that the present administration had not taken the warnings regarding this virus seriously.  Rising death tolls are scaring everyone.  Thankfully, people are listening and staying indoors for the most part.
It is the first time in my life of 73 years that I am now depending on the judgement of others for my health and the health of my family.
The more people stay at home and wash their hands constantly and consistently the better our chances for survival are.

As of today (my b-day)  Friday April 10th 2020 in the United States there are

     488,145 CONFIRMED CASES         17,924 DEATHS           27,500 RECOVERIES

It is surreal. 

No one knows when this pandemic will peak.

I am looking up the latest information on the crisis.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo was on television this morning going over the latest news.

It made me think of all the crises I can remember from the 1960s on...

WHOA...I looked up blackouts in the northeast and so far I've found four or five.
This is interesting.  I'll post more as I find it.

The biggest one was:

The northeast blackout of 1965 was a significant disruption in the supply of electricity on Tuesday, November 9, 1965, affecting parts of Ontario Canada and Rhode Island, Connecticut, Masachusettes, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Vermont in the U.S.  Over 30 million people and 80,000 square miles (207,000 km²) were left without electricity for up to 13 hours.

SUNDAY MARCH 15TH 2020 - CORONA UPDATE

No, my friend,  we're not talking about the halo around our sun...
Our world is being attacked by a virus they have named Corona Virus.  It is already being called a PANDEMIC.
It has scared me enough to think I need to begin blogging--as the whole world seems to be collapsing in on itself, I have to write to help make sense of my thoughts/feelings
Italy is closed!
The stores are out of valuables like bottled water and toilet paper.
