MY SOMETIME BROTHER LARRY...

 My friend Laurie had trouble understanding the idea of a sometime brother--not having been raised in the chaos that was my young life...

 

So....my family was like this....

 

My father, the Captain, was almost always away, except when he slept on the couch in his shorts.

 

I didn't know him--so I didn't like him. He did not even know what flavor ice cream I liked 

 

But Sol (Shya, Fagela, Solomon)  Rodkin did.

 

In the early years, we went everywhere (Lollypop Farm, Sunset Play Land, Long Beach, Jones Beach, visiting Aunt Joannie and Aunt Helen in Queens...

 

All this is to say that I found out (on Facebook) that Larry had died on July 9th of this year, 2026.

I had gotten back in touch with Larry and Therese about 2-3? years ago.  Therese and I have the exact same birthday--4/10/1947. She, Therese, had a friend just a little north of me (in Vermont) and for the longest time, were trying to get together somehow. 

 

It never did work out. But we had a sort of relationship....

 

Rhetta, Larry and I were trying to figure out a plan for getting together in NYC. We talked about getting hotel rooms in NY and spending the time hanging out and reminiscing. 

 

It kept getting put off...Rhet had to have some surgeries, recovered (pretty well!) and then we began to talk about visiting Larry--this time in Maryland, where he and Therese live...Larry had had cancer but was in remission--once he had gotten severe skin rashes (I am expert in that area because of my lifelong eczema) so I sent him 'stuff' to relieve the itchiness.  

 

Time went by....and last week I went to facebook to check on our possible plans and saw Therese's page--she said something like....I don't know how I am going to live without him...

THEN I KNEW that Larry had died.

I tried to contact her using every phone number I had for them.

Everything was disconnected.

 

I thought that perhaps I had jumped to conclusions....but I did further research (a site called people look-up) and that is how I found out the date of his death which was July 9th 2026.

 

He was born on July 1st 1943 and died on July 9th 2026.

 

Perhaps I will write more about his life at some other time.

 

I used to love to dance with him.  He was such a good dancer. We used to Cha-Cha, do the Lindsey and the Jersey Bounce!  He became a heroin addict, eventually recovered and became a therapist who helped others.  I loved him very much and will miss him as long as live.

 

 

 

  

Past Few Days Have Been Eventful 03/30/2026

There was a NO KINGS MARCH in Manchester on 3/28 that I went to with Lala Pero and Julie Robertson.  It was freezing.  Someone from CAT TV interviewed Julie regarding why she was at there.  They spoke at length and I can't wait to see her interview.

The worst part of this week is that Joanna fell while running. She was/is in Pariaiso in Chile, South America.  Mir helped to get her to the hospital. She broke her right elbow.  It's terrible. It takes a very long time to heal.  She will not be able to use her arm at all for--perhaps -- a year? Actually, she is home now.

At least we're doing OK in Sandgate.   Jesse is working to prepare everything for spring.  The Cows seem very healthy. The lil one is just beautiful. 

Don't want to mention that T-rump is ordering troops into IRAN and saying we'll bomb them if they don't let US ships thru the Strait of Hormus (all the oil tankers go thru there)....

 

The NO KINGS March was  in response to the Trump administration (Vance and pricky Miller) disappearing hispanics from the public streets of Minneapolis.  Bruce Springsteen performed a song about it just yesterday. Many artists are making statements against his policies.

He tried to take the Steven Colbert show off the air because Colbert makes fun of politicians, but the public stopped watching TV so the big braodcasting corp told trump that they had to reinstate the Colbert Show--they also f'd with John Stewart and that coupled with Colbert trouble...well they had to reinstate  both shows for the season.  Colbert and Stewart are going to be doing shows on the internet to avoid Network censorship and interference in general.

 All of sudden, people are asking, where did our rights go?   

Oh My Freakin' GODDESS!

 It is the morning after the state of the union address by the president, donald j trump.

I am beside myself wondering what will happen to our country, to our democracy....

trump and his minions have taken a wrecking ball to our White House, and to our constitutional democracy

speaker of house mike johnson will not allow Jesse Jackson's body to lie-in-state.  

Jesse Jackson is a national hero and deserves this honor.

trumps' police force (called ICE) has killed two people in Minneapolis and is trying to create prison camps in our major democratic cities so he can detain and arrest protesters

 In the future, if you see signs saying 'Melt Ice' you will know the meaning.

Twas the night before Halloween

 It started raining last night and has continued to rain to this instant. It is hard and driving rain. Farmers have needed rain for a long time, but this is a deluge. Hurricane Marissa is battering the Caribbean. Lives reported lost said reports from Kingston, Jamaica.

 Halloween falls on a Friday night. When I visited in North Carolina the whole town turned out in magnificent costumes, ingenious costumes, representational costumes. Familes did theme costumes.

WEDNESDAY JULY 30TH 2025 I WENT ON FACEBOOK TO ASK TERILIANA IF HAWAIAN ISLANDS WERE OK. SHE DID SAY THERE WAS WATER BUT NOTHING THEY COULDN'T HANDLE. GOOD TO HEAR THIS.
